I'm interested in improving transportation through technology. So far, I've done that by:

  1. Researching how people make transportation decisions and how those decisions can be influenced (in grad school).
  2. Building real-time tools that the public sector uses to monitor and operate their roadways (at Iteris).
  3. Working on a consumer product that improves the car ownership experience by connecting your car's computer to your smartphone (at Automatic).
  4. Improving the efficiency of Uber's marketplace using tools like surge pricing and supply positioning.

"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." - Sir Winston Churchill

"Kindness covers all of my political beliefs. No need to spell them out. I believe that if, at the end, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn’t always know this and am happy I lived long enough to find it out." - Roger Ebert

"Every spirit builds itself a house, and beyond its house a world, and beyond its world a heaven. Know then that the world exists for you: build, therefore, your own world." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"We must do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian-Darwinian theory, he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors. The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living." - Buckminster Fuller

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: 'Is this real, or is this just a ride?' And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.' And we kill those people.” - Bill Hicks
